Since 1990 the same Williamsburg address has been packing pernil, pollo, mangú, and weekday lunch specials for Los Sures — and for people who moved away and still come back.
A 2025 Instagram dispatch put it in one sentence: for more than three decades this restaurant has remained a beloved neighborhood establishment — authentic, affordable Dominican food, with pernil and baked chicken on the line.
That address is 417 S. 4th Street. Sazon Perez has cooked there since 1990.
The comments under that post read like a block roll call. One person wrote that from 2005 to 2013 they ate lunch here at least three times a week — “I miss my hood.” Another: the pollo guisado is delicious. Another: the workers are welcoming, and they never let food go to waste.
People who left still order as if they hadn’t. On Uber Eats, William D. wrote that he moved away, and every time he comes to see his mom he gets food: “it’s been a favorite for the longest.” Fany P. on Yelp: chicken is to die for, years of eating here, it never disappoints.
Lunch specials still start at $6. Breakfast still starts at 7am. Jose or Ramon still take the catering calls. The neighborhood changed. The window number did not.
